<lj:music>nothing - it's all in Mackay :(</lj:music>

And so to my last ever day of living at home.
Am I pleased. Yes.
Am I sad. Yes.
Am I nostalgic. Yes.
Have I finished everything I need to have done. No.

It's so stinking hot today. Ridiculously humid and disgusting.

I just sent emails to Anne, Ann and Michelle to let them know I got a job. I'm such a slacker for not doing it before now. I still need to email Chris. Do I know what to say? No. Do I want to? No. But it really would be rude to not let him know considering he could easily find out through the grapevine. I just don't know.

It's been a really long time since I've properly updated. Christmas was ok. I spent most of it hobbling around like a cripple because I'd been out on the Friday night before and got completely messed up and was dancing around like a maniac for hours. Christmas day was ... i dunno...full of religious fanaticism as per usual. I have trouble dealing. My aunt was shoving this intelligent design stuff down everyone's throats...'here, have this fantastic dvd that explains it all - it's sooo wonderful'. Shut up. Then dad and I drove 1000km north to Mackay to take my stuff up and leave the car there before flying back. It was such a long trip. Quite heavy traffic from Brisbane to Howard. Lots of drivers doing stupid things. There was this one ute that overtook us on a double white line about 50metres before an overtaking lane started. Der, that's smart. We got back Friday. Anna came over that night for a swim next door. New Years Eve I spent most of the day at Michelle's just swimming and hanging out. She's asked me to be her bridesmaid which I said yes to of course. That night Anna and I went out. I didn't want to, but it turned out to be an ok night. I saw in the new year waiting at the bar for a cocktail to be made. Then Anna and I got talking to this guy who grabbed us both round the waist and pretty much groped us. We were both looking for a bit of pash action that night, but I'm not sure a stranger's hand up my skirt was exactly want I wanted. Oh well. Last night we went to Mardi and Kev's for dinner. Ann and Ruth spent a lot of time just talking to each other and I was sitting there in front of them with nobody talking to me. Nice way for your family to treat you. Then Ruth found out I was 21 and goes 'Are you really 21? I can't believe that! You're 21?!' in this really shocked way. Grhhh, yes, actually, believe it or not. Anyway, it was good to see Con before he flies back to England in a week's time. He's so nice, I really enjoy hanging out with him.

    <lj:music>Outkast - Hey Ya!!!</lj:music>

So...It's been quite a while since I've updated. I've been quite the busy one. Last Thursday I left for Melbourne. Got up at 3.30am which just about killed me. I met A. at her work and she took my bag and I went for a tour of where she works. I don't really want to say where it is, but let's just say it's a government building which was built during the gold rush so it's literally dripping with gold. Very opulent. She's so lucky to work there. That day I went to Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens, got chatted up by this old dude who did Shiatsu (scary stuff!), went to Fed square and got very very lost (yes, I know the CBD is a grid, but if anyone can get lost, I can!).

The next day I was going to go to the museum, but it didn't open til 10, so I went for a walk and found myself at Melbourne Uni where I had a quick look around. A lady there took me in (because I looked lost) and gave me a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit. After that I went to the museum, had lunch at Lygon St (delish!), and went to the Vic Markets. After A. finished work we looked around DJs at all the preeety clothes.

On Saturday we hung around where A. lives and did a bit of shopping around there. In the afternoon we went to Chapel St to go dress shopping for A. That night we went to Brunswick St, but we were a bit overdressed and felt out of place, so we went into the city. I personally love love love Fitzroy and Carlton and all those inner northern suburbs and I would have liked to spend more time there, but oh well, last time I went I did so that's cool. We got home at 2 and watched an episode of Sex and the City before bed.

On Sunday we slept in then went to St Kilda which was awesome, then went up the Rialto towers to get a good view of the city.

On Monday I went to the Botanical Gardens and War Memorial, then met A. for lunch, then headed off for the airport.

All in all I had an awesome time.

    <lj:music>Radiohead - OK Computer</lj:music>

So I'm back from camping. I had the best weekend EVER! There was all of us there except Michelle. Everyone got on pretty well. We played heaps of boargames and went for swims and went shopping and just basically hung out for 3 days. The first night we were there the surfclub across the road was pumping until like 3 in the morning and we couldn't get any sleep. The next night I woke up in the middle of the night and my back was playing up. Same old thing again, sharp shooting pain and couldn't move my leg. Nice. But apart from that and some grumpiness on the part of one of my fellow campers it was a fantastic weekend.

I went over to Anna's grandma's place this morning to pick up some clothes and a blanket to take down to Melbourne for her. Then I was planning to go to Queenie's teahouse to pick up some Turkish apple tea to take down for her as a present. I got SO lost. I didn't know whether to turn left or right onto Sandgate Rd, and I ended up turning right. I realised fairly soon that I had gone the wrong way, so I stopped and looked in the refidex. I decided to go to a different tea house because I was now closer to it, and I set off in that direction. I accidentally got myself onto the Inner City Bypass (sound familiar?) and ended up at Kelvin Grove way way way away from where I wanted to be (Racecourse Rd). I was driving along Sandgate Rd and I saw this big 'ICB only' written on the road. I sort of thought to myself 'what the hell is ICB?', and by the time I realised it was Inner City Bypass it was too late and I was stuck. Doh! So I stopped and found my way to Samford Rd and went to Centrelink instead to start the process of applying for the dole. I have a job network meeting tomorrow morning. I hope they let me apply for heaps of speech jobs rather than having to apply for admin jobs. I so do not want to have to do admin jobs. Dammit, I have a speech pathology degree, there will be no admin jobs for me thank you very much. So I'll go for that tomorrow morning, then I'll make my way to Queenie's teahouse AGAIN (wish me luck!), then I'll meet up with Shonie for her birthday. I'll have to start packing for Melbourne tonight, or at least making up a list of what I'll need to take. And somewhere along the line I'll have to apply for the Prince Charles job and the Greenslops (haha) job before I go to Melbourne. I'll start tonight I think. And I want to go for a walk soon. I haven't been able to for a while, thanks to having stiches in. And maybe go to the library.

<lj:music>Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf</lj:music>

So, It's all over. I've finished all my exams, and unless I've failed something I'm going to graduate in 3 weeks time. I'm absolutely exhausted.

I'm off to SPA drinks in a few hours time. I want to know who's going. I know Skell is, but I don't know if anyone else I know is...I don't know what to wear. I won't go for long. I'm pretty tired. The drinks are in The Valley. I'm surprised at mum and dad's restraint about that. The Valley used to be the really seedy part of town with junkies and prostitutes on overy corner. It's been cleaned up in recent years, and now is totally safe. A few years ago when I was first starting to go out I went to the Valley in the daytime (daytime, mind you) and dad was like 'watch out for the odd-bods'. So after that I just didn't tell him when I went to the Valley, I just said I was going to the city. I figured what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him. So anyway, I didn't get any lecture at all about going to the Valley. Maybe he knows now that it's safe.

Tomorrow I'm going to the beach. 9 friends and I are camping at Mooloolaba. I'm catching a lift up the coast with a friend. It should be pretty fun. I'll be back Monday. It's forecast to rain on Sunday. Nooo! Please don't!!!

I got a phone call a few hours ago to say that I got an interview for the CathEd job in Townsville that I applied for. It'll be a phone interview. I hope I get it. They don't know when the interview will be yet. It might have to be while I'm in Melbourne. That's ok, I'll just have to bring down my stuff with me. Anna said I could give them her landline number for them to call on for the interview. So, wish me luck!

In approximately 18 hours, 50 minutes (not that I'm counting) I will have finished my LAST EVER uni exam. I am totally exhuasted (I had trouble sleeping last night, so I ended up with like 5 hours sleep), and I still have to revise:
-treatment for mild/moderate apraxia
-treatment goals for dysarthria, traumatic brain injury, right hemisphere syndrome
-treatment for dementia
-ICF model
-voice/fluency treatment
-generally read over the motor speech and aphasia notes I already have.
Shouldn't take too long, right? Oh god...so tired...
The good thing is that I'm fairly confident that I could walk into the exam and pass it right now, but I want to try to maintain a good clinic mark (I'm already on a 7 for the subject, the highest mark). Have to think of my academic transcript and all ;)
I filled in the form for graduation last night - very exciting!
Anyway, enough procrastination. Next time you hear from me I should have finished everything. Hopefully. Unless I fail.

Ok, I've seriously just about had it with one of my friends. For now, I'll just call her 'Meg' because I'd hate it if she stumbled upon this. She seriously lives in pixie-land. She has NO IDEA of reality!!!! I've put up with 4 years of SHITE from her. Listening to her deluded little dreams. Now, don't get me wrong, it's great to have a dream, but do me a favour and have a REALISTIC dream. She decided a few months ago to apply for the Royal Brisbane Hospital new graduate position, and she thought she had a pretty good chance. Ok, that's great. She had her prac in a similar setting and she did NOT do well at all - in fact she nearly failed. But she seriously thought that she had a great chance of getting this job, and has been telling everyone she's a shoe-in for it. Der, what? It's the only job she's applied for because she was convinced that it was hers in the bag. Der, for SUCH a competitive job they are not going to employ someone who nearly failed every prac she's ever done. And now she's absolutely, inconsolably devastated that she didn't get an interview. I just can't even muster up any sympathy. I didn't get an interview either, but ya know what? I'm not too disappointed because I didn't put all my hopes on that job, and I've been applying for other things too. This is the same chick who wants to eventually work with with actors on a cruise ship doing accent reduction. Um, hello? The market for working with actors doing accent modification stuff is SO SMALL! There's probably like only 1 Speech Pathologist in Australia who does that. And how much work is there going to be for that ON A CRUISE SHIP?!?!?! None!!! In the whole world!!! Fool. I have no sympathy.

Sorry about that...just have had enough.

On a better note, I just worked out that I already have about 51% for my history subject, so I'm not too worried now about my exam tomorrow. I'm guaranteed at least a 4 (pass), so that's sweet.

Ooh, and yesterday Anna rang up, and we chatted for a while, and she offered to pay for me to fly down to Melbourne. Oh my golly golly gosh I'm so excited!!! I fly down on Thursday the 17th, and get back the next Monday. So excited!!!

My ethics exam went ok, I passed for sure. It was pretty tight for time, and some people didn't get it finished. Thankfully I did though.

Anyway, must go do some work...

    <lj:music>Foo Fighters - In your honour</lj:music>

I'm running out of time to study. Today I spent all day (and by that I mean 9-7) sitting on the computer at uni typing up notes for my history exam. It is seriously such a pain to have to study for it. Hopefully I'll only need a few % to pass the damn thing. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, it's just a pain to study for it when I have more important things to study for, namely my speech exams. So I'm really really tired now and just about to crash. Bit brain dead.

Ran into Chris at uni today (not THE Chris, a different one, from school). We had a bit of a chat. See, it's people like him who I'll miss when I move away next year - the people who I only run into once every few months. Not close enough friends to keep in regular contact with, but good enough friends to have a 30 minute conversation whenever you run into them. I don't even have his email address.

Apparently I have this family bbq thing to go to on Sunday. My uncle's sort-of engagement party. I'm not really looking forward to it. There will be 'atmosphere' if you know what I mean. His fiance is part of this cult, and my grandparents and parents are not too impressed. I hope to only go for 2hours max so I can go home and study. I think I'll drive myself instead of go with mum and dad so I can skedaddle when I want.

Anyway, I am really really tired...beddy byes for me.

Erk! What a yucko day! I spent from 9am to 5pm at uni today studying. At least I got a fair bit done - all of motor speech disorders. I'm sort of running out of time. I only have 3 full days before I start exams. Saturday I'm having off for Mary's wedding and Brandon's 2nd birthday party. Man, I haven't started studying history yet. I don't know how much I'll do though, all I need to do is pass. I should be fairly close to passing right now. How hard can it be to pass a first year arts subject? Seriously?

I think I'm coming down with a cold though, which is very much not cool. I got through all of winter, and now when it's spring and I'm getting ready to go to the beach etc I get sick! I've been dosing myself up on echinacea and zinc and vitamin c and garlic. It's just a slightly sore throat at this stage, but I want to make sure I'm right for my exams.

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I got a 7 for my prac mark (the highest you can get), and I'm going to be able to use my supervisor as a referee which is awesome. And it was Melbourne Cup day yesterday. It was a pretty amazing race! Makybe Diva won it for the third year in a row which has never been done before. The end was really good! Ooh, and I got the horse that came 2nd in the sweep run at dad's work. Score!

Got the invitations to my friend Jo's wedding yesterday. She's getting married the day after we graduate. I'm really looking forward to it. She's getting married at an Anglican church, even though she's strict Seventh Day Adventist, and her father's a minister which confuses me a bit. I thought you had to have at least one of the couple being Anglican (her fiance is SDA also).

We managed to organise a camping trip for the weekend after we finish exams. We'll go up to the beach on the Saturday and come back on the Monday. It'll be cool, just the ten of us girls! It was amazing, there was like 40 emails flying around and back and forth, and we've finally decided on where and when.

Anyway, spicks and specks is on tv now, so I'd better go.

Well, this is my first entry! Very exciting.

Had a strange sort of day. Firstly I had to get up early to get to the dermatologist by 8am to get that mole cut out of my chest. It's started to sting a little bit which is annoying. I hope it heals well without a bad scar.

Then I had to race off to my job interview. I think it went quite well. No major disasters anyway. I wonder whether I said enough. They said the interview would go for 30 minutes, and I was out after 25...Oh well, I did my best. They said I'd find out in about a month whether I get a job. I really want to find out sooner because I want to go visit Anna in Melbourne, and I can't realistically do that if I don't know whether I have a job. My money's a bit tight at the moment.

I've been trying to get yet another freaking job application done. I'm nearly finished now thank goodness, just one more selection criteria out of 10 to write. It is due on Friday, but it has to get to Townsville so I'll have to send it Wednesday at the latest. I hate to whinge, but I'm really sick of writing applications. Each one ends up being on average 1500 words long.

Anyway, Better get back to it...
